If your rear shock already has the metal hardware pieces pressed into the top and bottom eyelets, follow these steps:
Measure the Width: Place the calipers on the outside edges of the hardware. Measure the total width from side to side in millimeters (e.g., 22mm, 30mm).
Measure the Hole: Measure the inside diameter of the inner sleeve hole where the bolt passes through (typically 6mm, 8mm, or 10mm).
E.g: If your total width is 22mm and the hole is 8mm, your hardware size is M8 x 22mm
If you are building up a bare frame or the old hardware is worn or missing, you can measure the frame tabs directly:
Measure the Frame Gap: Insert the inside-measuring jaws of your calipers between the frame's mounting tabs where the shock sits. Measure the internal width in millimeters.
Measure the Bolt: Take the frame's shock mount bolt and measure the outside diameter of the smooth shaft (not the threaded tip).
Note:Always check both ends! The front frame mount (top of the shock) and rear frame mount (bottom of the shock) often use completely different widths. Be sure to measure both.
